Red Eye Project
Once again our Clinton Heights WELCA is focusing on raising donations for the Red Eye Project this February. Red Eye is a disease of the eye that women in Tanzania, Africa, develop after cooking over open fires for too long a time. They are banished from their tribes or killed, as they are believed to be demon possessed. In 2006, the Women's Board of the Southern Ohio Synod started a fund to help these women by providing a safe place for them to live, work and heal. This goal has been met with a refugee center which includes a clinic where these women are treated for their red eye condition.
2015 brought a new focus of educating the young women in the area. The WELCA Women's Board began a scholarship fund named after Bishop Holloway which will eventually be turned into a foundation. The criteria for the scholarship fund is divided four ways: 1. Safe House 2. Medicine 3. Education for the Red Eye Women 4. Scholarship fund for young women
Beginning February 14, you will receive a valentine at church. We are hoping that you will again open your heart to these women by returning a donation of any amount to us I Samuel 16:7 For the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.
