Our Story

Our Beginnings

Clinton Heights Lutheran Church has been serving Clintonville and the Columbus area for over 100 years.

Initially, in the fall of 1921, a small group of believers met in a corner room on the second floor of the original Clinton High School building, which was located east of the current Clinton Elementary School. The high school building, eventually called the annex, was torn down a few years ago.

Our Home

Just a few months later, the parcel at Clinton Heights Avenue and North High was purchased. Ground was broken and a brand-new chapel was constructed on site. On March 26, 1922, the church was dedicated.

The Congregation

Membership grew by leaps and bounds throughout the decades, surpassing 1,000 baptized members in the early 1950s. With the church booming, it provided resources and members to help start North Community Lutheran Church on Morse Road.

Today

CHLC has active and longstanding relationships with Lutheran Social Services and the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center, offering time and treasure to a diverse range of projects.

Today, CHLC aims to be a welcoming church for all who would like to experience the love and fellowship of the Living Christ.
